Keys to the Chicago Bulls bouncing back against the Hornets: Knocking down perimeter shots
The Hornets rank in the NBA’s top ten in both three-point attempts per game and three-point percentage. The Bulls rank right in the middle of the league in both categories but will need to be smart about their outside shots to make sure they don’t waste possessions.
With this Bulls defense, there is no reason to assume they can remove a strength of the opposing team’s offense. The Hornets are a good shooting team and the Bulls need to do a few things to counter that when they are on offense.
First, they need to take smart three-point shots only. No need to force things or rush things on offense, When the outside shot doesn’t come naturally it is not a good shot for this Bulls team. Second, they simply need to knock them down when they do take them.
Last game, the Bulls shot 0-8 from three in the opening quarter that led to their huge deficit. In the first half, they finished 4-16 from outside.
That kind of performance again will leave them in a big hole once again. It falls on multiple players to avoid such a slow start, primarily Coby White as the team’s point guard and Nikola Vucevic as the team’s best offensive player.
Vooch needs to not force up to many 3’s, as when he does that he is often letting the defense off the hook. Few players can stop him inside and that is where he should focus on doing his damage early in this one.
White needs to be focused on getting the offense set up and getting the ball to players where they are most comfortable. By getting the ball to the right spots offensively and early in the shot clock, White will be giving the offense enough time to create an open look for someone.
These three things are the top priorities for the Bulls if they are going to bounce back and get back in the win column against the Charlotte Hornets.
