4. Jawun Evans, Point Guard

The free agent market is very thin at this point, but the Chicago Bulls would still have to seek out younger players to sign to a two-way contract. Looking at players that are well under the age of 25 would be wise for John Paxson and Gar Forman if they want to fill that final two-way contract spot soon.

A player that could really use a start-over at this point of his NBA career is the 23-year-old former Oklahoma State Cowboys point guard and Greenville, SC, native Jawun Evans. The former McDonald’s All-American point guard Evans showed out in his two years at Oklahoma State but failed to replicate that thus far at the next level.

However, Evans is a second round pick by the Philadelphia 76ers from the 2017 NBA Draft. He never got to play a games in a Sixers uniform as he made his NBA debut with head coach Doc Rivers and the Los Angeles Clippers. His rookie campaign was his best to date. He played in 48 games and averaged 4.8 points per game, 2.1 assists, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.8 steals.

The problem with Evans production from his rookie season was the fact that he had a 2-1 assist-to turnover ratio. That led to him only playing in eight games last season and he remains unsigned heading into the 2019-20 regular season.

Getting a chance to start from the ground up in a place like the Windy City could be exactly what’s needed for Evans entering his third year in the NBA.
