It seems like the move for the former top overall high school prospect in the nation for the 2020 recruiting cycle, shooting guard Anthony Edwards, to pick the Georgia Bulldogs is similar to Ben Simmons picking the LSU Tigers a couple years ago. He is the highest rated commitment to the Georgia basketball program in school history.
After Edwards reclassified to join the 2019 recruiting class, the commitment to former Indiana Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean and Georgia looked to make an immediate impact. Georgia could now go from a middle-to-lower tier SEC East team to a single-digit seed NCAA Tournament contender.
Yet, the Dawgs need to show that they can develop this elite talent that ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the nation for the 2019 recruiting cycle. Edwards is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard that is one of the most athletic prospects with one of the most versatile skill sets on the wing in this entire draft class.
The fact that the positives in Edwards’ game extends all the way to his three-point shooting shows just how highly touted this prospect will be. The floor for Edwards shouldn’t take him any lower than the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. But if the Chicago Bulls somehow make their way all the way up to the top three in the lottery, Edwards has to be on their mind.
