Being able to establish a legitimately solid young core around the former Clippers rising star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander could be a dream scenario for the Thunder. This would also only happen if they’re willing to deal out Russell Westbrook in what could amount of a three-team trade package like the one we have here.
In this scenario, we have the Charlotte Hornets jumping into the three-team trade deal where they can actually move forward a bit in their inevitable rebuild, after losing star point guard Kemba Walker. All three teams benefit in some major sense here. The Chicago Bulls also wind up landing a potent young guard along with Russ, with former Florida State Seminoles star Dwayne Bacon.
The Bulls actually faced the potent shooting guard Bacon and the Hornets in their 2019 Las Vegas Summer League finale, resulting in a 75-72 victory. Bacon would add a very solid piece to the Bulls backcourt rotation, and he could learn under Russ and fellow shooting guard Zach LaVine.
What the Thunder are getting in this scenario is rising Hornets star guard Malik Monk and the core part of all three of these trade proposals from the Bulls with Porter Jr. and Dunn. Oklahoma City also gets the 2020 first round pick from the Bulls and sends a future lottery protected first round pick to the Hornets along with Darius Bazley. The Hornets also wind up getting second-year Bulls small forward Chandler Hutchison.
