Chicago Bulls: end of season roundtable discussion
By Luke Askew
When will the Chicago Bulls be back in the playoffs?
LA: Next season. I mean, why not? The East is wide open, the Bulls will have LaVine, Markkanen, and Dunn for the entire season (hopefully), and they showed flashes of being able to hang with the good teams this season. If they draft well, and maybe add a veteran or two in free agency, there’s no reason the Bulls can’t sneak into the playoffs.
DG: I believe the next time the Chicago Bulls will be in the playoffs is next season. If they bring Zach LaVine back and hit on their draft picks, I don’t see any reasons why they can’t make the playoffs. The Eastern Conference is so bad that I think they can mkae the seventh or eighth spot.
KP: The Chicago Bulls will be back in the playoffs in 2021, right after the All-Star game is at the United Center.
MO: Oh boy. This is a tough question given that it might depend on when the front office decides to try for a splash in free agency, but I’ll say 2021.
NN: The 2019-2020 season as an eighth seed. The Bulls should be patient with their rebuild and let the young guns dictate how far and how fast they advance. I think it’d be a mistake to add journeymen to force a playoff appearance. But, I also don’t think GarPax will stomach tanking for another season and they’ll shoot for a quick turnaround.
IMK: I see the Bulls needing another year, so I’d expect another top 10 pick in 2019, and THEN I think they’ll make the playoffs if they get some more proper pieces for Hoiball.
WL: The Bulls will be back in the playoffs in 2020, and I think I might even be a year off. This team has opportunities to spend in the offseason and a really appealing group of young players. Plus, as we know, they had a much harder time losing when the G-League roster wasn’t starting against NBA teams.
JH: 2019-2020 is our year. And we’ll have an All-Star for the game in Chicago.
BB: I think the Bulls can be back in the playoffs next year. That is not really an issue for the team, especially because mediocre squads can sneak in as a seven or eight seed in the Eastern Conference every season. The issue will be winning playoff games. They should have a good chance when the team obtains a few more solid pieces throughout the next couple seasons.
