A Chicago Bulls Report Card; Best, Worst Fits for Fred Hoiberg’s System

4 of 4

Strengths:

If the Bulls decide to make offseason moves this summer, there are a trio of key players that should be off the table.

1. Doug McDermott. This second-year forward is playing some of his best basketball right now. We, in Chicago, don’t call him Dougie McBuckets for no reason. The way he moves without the ball and shoots will be critical to the Bulls’ future success.

2. Bobby Portis. There’s a reason the first-year forward has been deserving of more game time action. His mid-range game is on point and the energy he exudes on the court is relentless. Although Portis plays as though he has a chip on his shoulder, he doesn’t need to do that because he ultimately has become one of the team’s best assets.

3. Derrick Rose. As much negative press as he gets, the former MVP still has the skills necessary to collapse another team’s defense on any given night. His speed, quickness and agility make him a perfect fit for the Hoiberg offense. The only question is, can he stay healthy?

If the Bulls can acquire another guard to fill in at point guard, I think the team will become dangerously hot – so hot that they’ll be nearly impossible to beat.
