Since the Chicago Bulls ended the Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak a couple of weeks ago, a lot of hype was put into the Bulls’ matinee match-up at Miami. While this game did not offer the same excitement as the previous one, the result went in favor of Miami in the Bulls’ 93-105 loss.

Chicago went with a starting lineup of Kirk Hinrich, Marco Belinelli, Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng, and Carlos Boozer, so size would be a problem throughout the game. It began pretty evenly, but Miami got their offense going as Chicago struggled to score at all, making only eight field goals. The Bulls also experienced a lot of foul trouble as Boozer, Butler, and Mohammed all had at least two fouls in the quarter. Miami, on the other hand, had LeBron James go a perfect 3-3 from the field, contributing to the Bulls’ 22-30 deficit at the conclusion of the quarter.

The second quarter featured a comeback for the Bulls, led by Nate Robinson and his offensive spark. Initially, Robinson was actually looking to get his teammates the ball, but he eventually reverted back to getting his own shots, and it worked in the Bulls’ favor. He scored seven points in the quarter and made a late three to cut the Heat’s lead to two, 54-56, before halftime.

Apr 14, 2013; Miami, FL, USA; Chicago Bulls shooting guard Kirk Hinrich (12) is defended by Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers (15) during the first half at American Airlines Arena.
Early on in the third, the Bulls did well. Butler completed a four-point play to tie the game at 58, and afterwards, Hinrich hit a left baseline three to give Chicago the 61-60 lead. That lead quickly diminished, but Hinrich made another three to get the Bulls behind by just one point. But Miami came back by stepping it up on both ends of the court taking a nine-point, 77-86 lead, at the end of the quarter.

As time went on, the Heat stayed ahead. Chicago continued to linger around, but they could never get the stops necessary to achieve the lead, going on to lose.

Boozer finished with a double-double of 16 points and 20 rebounds for the Bulls while James had 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists for the Heat. Chicago, now 43-47, will face the Orlando Magic tomorrow night at 6 PM ET.

Dwyane Wade returned home to Chicago and joined the good folks over at the Chicago Tribune to dish about how he almost signed with the Chicago Bulls during the big free agent offseason of 2010.

Wade is from Chicago and says he always dreamed of playing for the Bulls while he was growing up watching Michael Jordan do his thing. But when push came to shove and the Bulls formally offered the All-Star a contract that offseason, Wade says it really messed him up.

“I’m a Chicago guy and I grew up idolizing the Chicago Bulls, idolizing Michael Jordan and wanted to wear that jersey.” Wade said on Chicago Tribune Live. “So the day I went for the Chicago visit and they gave me the No. 3 jersey, I mean, that day messed me up. I went back home and I had the jersey on and, I mean, I turned into a kid again.”

As we all know, Wade never signed with the Bulls and instead helped not only form the Miami Big 3, but he aided said Big 3 in knocking Chicago out of the playoffs in 2011.

But it might just be me, but Wade is sort of humanized by this. He’s a hometown kid who saw an opportunity to form a power house in Miami and he remained loyal to his second home. That’s admirable.

Just kidding, we all hate Dwyane Wade.
