Asik returned bigger and better then ever but soon broke his collar bone. When he recovered he was forced to sign a contract with Fenerbahce but refused and went as far as sitting out the season to avoid signing one. Asik became a 2 time All-Star in back to back seasons in 2007-08 and 2008-09.
During this time he was drafted into the NBA by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2008 NBA Draft but was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls. Asik officially became a member of the Bulls in 2010 and quickly became a centerpiece of the Bench Mob in his first season. Asik was in high demand at the trade deadline in 2010-11 but the Bulls hung onto him.
He is playing in his second full NBA season in 2011-12.
