<p>After a great win against the Sun on Sunday, the Sky would once again play against the familiar team on their home court, in hopes of extending their streak. However, the game didn’t go their way, as they lost to a final score of 83-72.</p>
<p>While Tamera Young came back after missing Sunday’s game against the Sun in Connecticut, Sylvia Fowles, the WNBA’s rebounding leader, was still absent for the second straight game.</p>
<p>Sun&#8217;s Tina Charles took advantage of this as she scored 24 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks, leading Connecticut to improve their record to 9-2 on the road with tonight’s win. Charles as well got her 13th double-double of the season.  Kara Larson and Renee Montgomery also helped as Larson contributed with 18 points, and Montgomery with 15</p>
<p>Vandersloot played great scoring 17 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals, and as well, Cash had a great game, as she had 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. As well Swords, Princes and Petrovic had 10 points each, but it seemed it wasn’t enough to take down the Sun, who sit at 1st place in the Eastern Conference.</p>
<p>Vandersloot was off to a great start in the game as she scored 8 straight points in the 1st quarter, leading with a 14-13 lead. The Sun however still hung in there as they lead by 21-20 at the end of the second quarter. That would be the end of it, as the Sun never trailed again in the game. Halftime and the Sun were up 44-33.</p>
<p>After the 3rd quarter, the Sun had a bigger lead, leading by 58-44 and halfway into the 4th quarter, the Sun lead even more, leading by 73-52.</p>
<p>The Sun’s defense was the key to winning tonight’s game, as they held Chicago, shooting 37% (26-70) from the field, 1.67% (4-24) beyond the arch and had 4 team blocks.</p>
<p>Although the Sky didn’t win tonight, they showed how vulnerable the Sun were, as they held the 1st placed Sun, shooting at 43% (27-63) from the field.</p>
<p>Chicago is now tied with the New York Liberty for the 4th and final place to be possible contenders in playoffs. If the Sky make it to the playoffs, it’ll become a franchise first.</p>
<p>The Sky will now travel to Indiana to face off against the Fever, while the Sun will face off against the Silver Stars, in San Antonio.</p>

<p>After constantly losing games because of injuries, it would seem as if the Chicago Sky should just call it quits. Give up and save the embarrassment of losing yet another game. That however wasn’t the case tonight as the Sky were able to regroup.  After playing against the Connecticut Sun in Uncasville at the Mohegan Sun Arena, the Sky came out winning, with their first win in over 2 months. Despite being short handed with Fowles and Young missing the game because of personal reasons (Young lost a family member) the final score was 82-70.</p>
<p>The top performer for the Sky was Courtney Vandersloot as she scored 6 points, 2 rebounds, dished out 11 assists and grabbed 4 steals. The top scorer for the Sky was Epiphanny Prince as she scored15 points leading the Sky to victory. Also as usual, Swim Cash had a great performance as she scored 14 points, had 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. The top scorer and performer for the Connecticut was 5’10 Allison Hightower. Hightower had 17 buckets, grabbed 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and had 5 assists.</p>
<p>During the 1st half, both teams were playing well but it was the Sun who had the early lead. They went on a 15-9 run. The Sky however still looked determined and it showed as they 23-19 run ending the 2nd. What also helped the Suns win was their spectacular defense tonight. They were 12-38 from the boards and had 11 total steals. They Sky also were able to hold the Sun off, as Connecticut only shot 42% from the field, and 37% from beyond the arch.</p>
<p>The game was close for Chicago though as the Sky were trailing by 9 points (50-41) with 6 minutes left in their third and shooting 46% (33-71). Still, they manage to hold on and win.</p>
<p>The Suns however have clinched a playoff spot as the Liberty lost Sunday against the Seattle Storm today and the Sun are still first in the Eastern Conference as they have now won 17 games and only lost 6. As well, as I predicted earlier, Chicago is now in the 4th spot in the eastern conference with the Liberty dropping to the 5th spot.</p>
<p>The first time the Sky &amp; Sun met this season was on July 13th when the game when to overtime, with the Sky losing. Now that they’re even, winning a game each, both teams will meet again on Tuesday, in Chicago at the Allstate Arena. After that game, they will met once last time again in Connecticut on September 9th.</p>
