It’s going to be a while before we get to see the NBA awards handed out in real life, but that doesn’t mean I can’t arbitrarily hand out my own awards for the Chicago Bulls.

It’s an important exercise, handing out awards to Bulls players, because none of these guys are going to so much as sniff an actual award for the season that just finished.

Imagine Gar Forman and John Paxson drafting someone outside of a No. 1 pick that could contend for Rookie of the Year. Or think about deciding which players on the team showed any signs of improvement, and then you have to say which is the most improved?

More from Bulls History

Honestly, just getting over the departure of the original Benny the Bull was the biggest challenge and success of this season.

There is at least one player on this team that would qualify as valuable and I’m not even going to touch Coach of the Year or any front office awards because that’s just a pile of bad news waiting to happen.

Is there some kind of award we can give Isaiah Canaan for being himself?

If I think too hard about this season, it just makes me mad and kind of hurts my feelings that Jerry Reinsdorf let Michael Reinsdorf and his friends make this season a reality, but I love basketball and I’m sure that we can talk about some good things, too. Basketball is great and basketball is supposed to be fun. We must be willing to make it fun ourselves, if GarPax deny us of that.
