The Chicago Bulls’ idea for a “superteam” is set for a complete backfire.

No team so far has made more eye popping decisions this offseason than the Chicago Bulls.

They first started their offseason with a surprising Derrick Rose trade. It was a good move. The consensus for all fans was that the Bulls needed to get rid of either Rose or Butler, and with Butler being the better player, it was pretty obvious who was the odd man out. They didn’t really get anything good back for him, but they were able to get rid of Rose and his huge contract, so there really is no complaining in the end.

Once free agency started, things really started getting crazy.

More from Bulls News

First, the Bulls sign Rajon Rondo to a two-year deal. Most people didn’t happen to like the deal. I actually loved the deal. I thought it was a good pickup. The Bulls get a pass-first point guard that wouldn’t mind deferring to Butler and could give the offensively-challenged Bulls some good looks during the course of the season.

It all started to go downhill that minute they signed Dwyane Wade. I don’t have anything against Wade. He’s a legend, a Hall of Famer and one of the greatest shooting guards in NBA history, but he’s not the guy the Bulls needed right now.

I was fine with the Rondo signing, but now that Wade is in the mix, it makes the Rondo signing absolutely awful. The Bulls now have three ball-dominant players that can’t shoot the three. The Bulls would have been better off signing a guard that can shoot like Allen Crabbe (who re-signed with Portland). If they got Crabbe, paired him with the slashing Butler and the pass-happy Rondo to set both of them up, then that would have been a great three-man punch.

More bulls: Can Butler and the rest of the 'Three Alphas' make it work?

Instead, Bulls fans now have to endure the torture of “not being able to score-itis” that this Bulls team has continued to suffer from for years.

With rumor already circulating about next summer, it’s been murmured and joked that the Bulls’ plan is to be able to sign Russell Westbrook or Blake Griffin next summer. That would be great if they are able to pull that off, but I don’t see how they are going to pull it off.

When players look at this Chicago Bulls team and the struggles that they will have next season, I don’t see how players like Griffin and Westbrook will want to come to Chicago when there are other teams out there that can provide more stability.

We shall see what the future holds for the Bulls in a couple months, but from what I can see, it doesn’t look like this Bulls team is going to be doing much.
