It may be the offseason, but injuries aren’t going anywhere.

Jimmy Butler suffered a groin injury that will prevent him from participating on the USA Men’s Select Team.

Last week, it was announced Butler was selected to the Select Team, who will train with the USA Men’s National Team this week in Las Vegas in preparation for the FIBA World Cup. Recently, Kevin Love withdrew from the Men’s National Team, reportedly because of ongoing trade talks that leave his future uncertain. However, Comcast SportsNet Chicago’s Mark Schanowski assured Butler’s unavailability isn’t also related to trade talks.

Monday marks the start of the USA Basketball training camp where Derrick Rose will be participating as a member of the Men’s National Team. Rookie Doug McDermott will also be in attendance as a member of the Select Team.
