According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein, the Chicago Bulls have been attempting to get into the trade mix for Kevin Love. With this news, the Chicago Bulls become the third team interested in, joining the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

According to this report, this says that Cleveland remains the favorite for Kevin Love’s talents. This means that the Bulls are going to have to bring the house in order to acquire him. Earlier in the week, Chris Broussard of ESPN, said that Cleveland offered Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and a first round pick for Kevin Love. This is going back awhile but supposedly the Warriors have been going back and forth on offering the Timberwolves, Klay Thompson, David Lee and Harrison Barnes for Kevin Love and Kevin Martin. If you are looking at these deals, it is going to take a huge amount of the Bulls core to acquire Kevin Love.
This is purely speculation but I believe that it would take Jimmy Butler, Mike Dunleavy Jr., Taj Gibson and a first round pick. As I said, that trade is purely speculation from my side of what I think it will take in order to acquire the talents of Kevin Love. If they Bulls did that people are going to be asking where he is going to play, and the answer would be probably most of his time at Small Forward. Kevin Love hasn’t played there and is defensively inclined but can stand out and shoot threes. This would also give the Bulls a much bigger front court than they were already counting on and could give teams fits in the post season because of their size.
If my offer goes through, this could be the Bulls starting lineup coming into the 2014 season:
PG- Derrick Rose
SF- Kevin Love
PF- Pau Gasol
C- Joakim Noah
The Bulls would be the one team in the league that I could see Kevin Love actually playing the small forward position. However, that defensive ability that he has showed so far is really scary. This would place him on the Carmelo Anthony’s and LeBron James’s of the NBA, which would likely mean a lot of help from Noah and Gasol defensively. Ultimately the Bulls might have to give up more, but this could work out for them.
