Well Pippen Peoples, the Chicago Bulls are back at it again playing a nationally televised game against the L.A. Lakers. Understand this not Michael’s Bulls vs. Magic’s Lakers. We are far, far away from the good old days. This isn’t even D-Rose’s Bulls vs. Kobe’s Lakers. This is a game in which people think about other options like…
A) Washing Clothes
B) Changing sock drawers
C) Clipping toenails
But I digress, I am going to give you a reason Pippen Peoples to watch this game. To coin a phrase from the old days, “The NBA is Fantastic.” I know it was on Martin Luther King holiday. The Bulls and Lakers went into overtime. Then in dramatic fashion, Taj Gibson hit a lay up with.09 seconds left to win the game. For that game to be the ONLY one not to be on national TV out of the five games scheduled, it had the most exciting finish. We can only hope that it will be as exciting on Sunday.
I will say this…being a Laker guard maybe hazardous to your health. The Lakers have so many injuries networks are thinking about a M.A.S.H reunion. I mean look at the list…Kobe Bryant, Jodie Meeks, Nick Young, Jordan Farmar. I mean it’s amazing! Steve Blake finally come back from injury then suffers a ruptured eardrum, ouch! If that’s not enough, Pau Gasol has a strained groin. That should be enough to say that the Bulls should run these guys right? Uh, I’m sure Joakim Noah still has his “brother” Luol Deng on speed dial. If he does, he will tell the story of how the Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 119-108 with four players and a fouled out Robert Sacre. He’ll probably give you all the inside details of how…what am I saying? We all saw it. That was the most embarrassing moment in Cleveland sports history. Trust me, there have been plenty.
The Bulls have a GOLDEN opportunity to win this game and get back to .500 again. I really don’t know what the issue is with the Bulls and the Washington Wizards have with getting two games above .500 but these teams do have issues. The Bulls are going to have to put the ball in the hole to win this game. It seems easy but in the last couple of losses on this road trip, the Bulls could build mini-malls with the bricks that they have put up. They are coming off a loss to the Golden State Warriors when Stephen Curry showed everyone why he might be the best pure shooter in the world. Joakim Noah blamed himself for not being more aggressive on the offensive end (Man, I love this dude, so refreshing to see a leader for once.) Well he can make it up in this game because the front-line of the Lakers is making Kareem Abdul-Jabbar roll over in his grave. The Bulls can run and need to run to get easy baskets. Steve Nash just turned 40. Run the man to death. The Lakers have less depth than the Bulls and Pippen Peoples that is really saying something.
If the Bulls lose this game. Look for a rant in the recap. That’s all I have to say.
