Things are looking up for Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose! It was announced that Rose was chosen for the 2014-2016 USA national team pool that included 27 other players. Sure it’s not a sure thing yet, as he does have to get qualified, but at least he got chosen. Hearing news like this has to be a glimmer of hope for Rose’s professional basketball career. Here’s what the former MVP and all-star had to say:
I’m looking forward to getting back on the court this summer and having the chance to represent our country,” Rose said. “It’s an honor to play for Team USA and Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski).

Rose who is no stranger to the Team USA festivities won a gold medal with the team back in 2010 at the World Championship. Let’s just cross our fingers and hope that Rose is set to go after a chance to once again play with Team USA and have that pride of representing his country! Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, who is also one of the assistants on Team USA is in his corner and wants him to have a shot to play with with such an amazing team:
I’m hopeful that he will participate and he’ll be selected,” Thibodeau said after the Bulls’ win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night. “But a lot depends on where his health is. But I thought it was a great experience for him in the past. I know how much he enjoyed it. I know how USA Basketball feels about him. I think it’s a great honor and a privilege, and hopefully it will work out.
Speaking of health Rose took to the Bulls shootaround on Wednesday in Cleveland, and is looking to practice his shots early on in his rehab process. Take a peek at the video below! It’s nice to see him getting his shots up earlier on this time around.

Once again coach Thibodeau brings home the importance of patience in the rehab process for Rose to come back healthy.
He’s shooting now,” Thibodeau said. “He’s coming along fine. His spirit’s strong. He had two workouts today, but he still has a long way to go. It’s important for him to go step by step, be patient, and just regain his health.
