Already playing for a lengthy total of 37 mins. in a game for the Chicago Bulls on Monday night, newly signed D.J. Augustin is getting adjusted to playing with his teammates and the flow of the Bulls’ game. He totaled 14 pts. along with 8 assists vs. the Orlando Magics, and was rather surprised he got that much playing time:
I didn’t expect it,” Augustin said of playing all the minutes. “But you never know. I’m not complaining. We went out there, we fought hard, it was a tough loss for us tonight.

Since the Bulls decided to release Mike James, Augustin has the opportunity to show us what he can do to improve the state of the PG position for the remainder of the season. So far the rest of the his Bulls teammates think he’s adjusting quite well to the big role he’s taking on:
D.J. played great,” Bulls forward Luol Deng said. “He got us in our offense. It’s hard for him (because) he doesn’t know the plays. But he did a good job of just coming in; this is the NBA. It’s not easy to just come in and play that many minutes with a new team. I thought he did a great job.
My sentiments exactly! It’s not an easy feat for a player coming in during the season unto a new team. Especially in the state the Bulls’ are currently in right now, with Derrick Rose among many of the players on the team getting hit with injuries. This seems to be the opportunity that Augustin should take advantage and shine for the Bulls’ in this somber time. Even fellow teammate Joakim Noah has confidence in their new PG:
I think he’s doing a lot of great things out there,” Bulls center Joakim Noah said. “All of us — I think Marquis has got to keep grinding, keep going. I think D.J.’s getting in the swing of things, learning the plays, learning the defensive system. I think he’s doing a good job.
It’s always nice to hear that you have your teammates rooting for you to do well. Augustin has already gotten “comfortable” with the Bulls, and looks forward to progression as he gets more games under his belt:
I think I know (the plays) pretty well now,” he said. “And the more games I play the comfortable I feel.
