The Chicago Bulls can’t hang their heads down and give up on the rest of the season just yet. Yes, right now their team is not in the best state it could be, (you can blame injuries for that!) but there is still a whole lot of games left to play! We all know the Bulls as a team not to give up easily, (it’s practically built in them, must be in the jerseys) even after losses like the one against the New York Knicks Wednesday night when they came back from being in a 20 point hole but fell short in the final minutes losing 78-83. When you can’t beat the Knicks (considering how terrible they’ve been playing) you know somethings not right! Bulls center Joakim Noah sounded off on his team after the loss:
I think that we showed some fight tonight,” said Noah. “We just got to stick together as a team. We’ve been losing a lot of tough games right now, but we can’t pout. We have to stick together through the hard times. We’ve got some guys coming back. Keep grinding and I know this is going to turn around. It’s tough. Losing sucks. We’ve been through a lot this year. A lot of adversity. But I think that we have a positive group. You can’t get too down on yourself. We’ve just got to move on to the next game. As guys come back, as guys understand what their roles are, our team will be a lot better.
That’s the type of mindset every player on the Bulls team need to have in order to survive this season. With all of the injuries this team has been struck with (again!) they can either give up now, or choose to fight through no matter which players aren’t on the court to play. Losing Derrick Rose once again (tore medial meniscus) was crushing for this team, but they seem to understand that they can’t let that keep them down. And hey you never know, this time around Rose just may make an appearance in the playoffs, he did leave that possibility open although Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau pretty much shot it down. (thanks Thibs way to be a kill joy!) If he’s healthy and ready why not stun the world and play, we’ll see what happens this time around.
So far most of the starting line-up has been injured and out for the Bulls including Rose, Noah, Luol Deng, and Jimmy Butler. Overall in this NBA season so far, the Bulls need some kind of pat on the back just for what they’ve been through!
Through it all win or lose nobody in Chicago is making any excuses, especially not Thibodeau:
Part of the problem is we have a lot of moving parts so we have guys who are not used to playing with each other,” said Thibodeau. “But we can’t use that as an excuse.
