More injuries, more problems for the Chicago Bulls. Since their star and all-star point guard Derrick Rose went down with yet another knee injury (tore his right meniscus) the Bulls have found themselves in yet another atmosphere change. But as they say “the show must go on”! So far it seems like the Bulls are not playing like themselves. We are used to seeing the dominating defense that literally makes you scared whenever you play them. We are going to need that back if we want to still compete! Head coach Tom Thibodeau knows his team is capable of still being able to play great defense:
I think we got to get our concentration back and our edge back defensively,” Thibodeau said. “I think everyone’s worried offensively about how we’re going to score. And I like what we’re doing offensively. I thought guys shared the ball, made plays for each other, turnovers were low. We shot a good-enough percentage, but the defense and the rebounding really hurt us so we got to get that straightened out.”
“Right now we’re not playing defense the way we’re capable of. And I know we can be a great defensive team, they’ve already shown me that.

With Jimmy Butler out with a turf toe sprain, (his return still uncertain) we’re going to need the entire Bulls team to be more active on defense. That’s how our team is used to playing, but as Carlos Boozer stated “It’ a whole new season” for their team and it’s easier for us to say that they need to get back to how they were. We have to realize that loosing Rose means change that obviously effect their rotation and line-up. Boozer made a great point:
It’s like a whole new season,” Bulls forward Carlos Boozer said Saturday morning, in reference to the leadership role veterans must fill without Rose in the lineup. “It’s like starting over again in the middle of the year, where we are right now, so we’re still trying to find our new identity without Derrick for this season, because each season is very different. Each team is very different. But the heart and soul is still here and the character is still here. So it is up to us, it’s up to us to lead the way. Myself, Jo [Joakim Noah], [Luol Deng], Taj [Gibson] has been here for a long time and Nazr [Mohammed]‘s been through almost everything. So we do have great leadership and we’ll help the young guys along.
This isn’t going to be a cake walk for the Bulls, but it doesn’t look like they’re going to make any excuses for themselves. Stay strong Bulls!! It works out in their favor that the Eastern Conference is actually quite terrible…
