Chicago Bulls Waive Kalin Lucas, Patrick Christopher

It’s officially almost time for the preseason to start, as the Chicago Bulls waived a pair of training camp invites today in Kalin Lucas and Patrick Christopher. This brings their roster total to 16, meaning at least one more cut is coming. Probably two or three.

The remaining competitors for the final roster spots are big men DJ White and Dexter Pittman, wing Dahntay Jones and guard Mike James. The Bulls have long expressed a desire to add another big to the roster, so one of White and Pittman figure to stick for sure. Jones is a very Thibs player and would give the Bulls yet another player from Duke, and James has previous experience with Thibs and the Bulls from 2012. So, we’ll see.

In the meantime, I will mourn the absence of Lucas, who played for Michigan State — where I am currently a student — and is a veteran of the ACL recovery process. I liked him in college and was hoping we’d at least get to see him in one game, but alas it was not to be. Ah well. Can’t win ‘em all, I suppose.

3 days until preseason. 27 until opening night.
