When last the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs did battle, the Spurs managed to come out on top in overtime. When they met again in Memphis Saturday, the Spurs once again came out on top in overtime, 104-93.
Memphis opened the game on fire from the field, scoring 29 points in the first quarter and prompting Gregg Popovich to pull his entire starting lineup halfway through the quarter. Whatever he said to them must have worked, because his team outscored Memphis 88-64 over the final three quarters and overtime.
Tim Duncan had a throwback game with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go with 5 assists, while Tony Parker had 26 points. Mike Conley led the Grizzlies with 20 points and 5 steals, but missed a tough runner in the closing seconds of regulation that would have won the game for Memphis.
Game four will be Monday night in Memphis on ESPN.
