Chicago Bulls approaching full strength as they host the Indiana Pacers

In a season that has seen precious little good news injury-wise, the Chicago Bulls can start to feel better on that front with Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson playing in their second consecutive game tonight.

Gibson missed a little less than four weeks after spraining his knee Feb. 24, but played well in his return against the Portland Trailblazers. His jumper wasn’t there for the most part, but his defense was. He was also part of the unit that almost brought the Bulls back in the fourth quarter.

Hinrich did Kirk Hinrich things, missing five of his seven shots and generally looking unimpressive. His allegedly great defense was exploited early and often by Damian Lillard and while the Bulls offense generally looked better with him on the floor, the actual impact was marginal.

Ultimately, the Bulls’ season will live or die with the return or non-return of Derrick Rose. It’s very nice to have Gibson and Hinrich — mostly Gibson — back, but that’s about it. And god only knows when Rose will be back. No seriously.

Also, Rip Hamilton is still out and nobody seems to know or care when he might be back. So there’s that.
