As per usual, the Chicago Bulls will be missing more than a quarter of their full roster as they take the floor against the Los Angeles Lakers. Besides Derrick Rose, all three of Richard Hamilton, Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson will be sidelined this afternoon.
Gibson has been out since spraining his knee on Feb. 24 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and presumably will return in the coming weeks, although no time table has been given for his return.
Hinrich apparently has been in a walking boot for the last week, and god only knows when he might be back. He’ll probably come back eventually, followed shortly thereafter by a stint on the bench. It is what it is, at this point.
Since it’s been a foregone conclusion that Rip Hamilton will be gone as of this summer, it might be best for everyone involved to pull the plug now. He’s missed more than a week with back spasms, and didn’t even make the trip out west with the team this week. What’s more, his replacement, Marco Belinelli, plays significantly better when starting and Rip has really struggled since injuring himself for the first time this season in December. It’s really not even worth having him come back at this point.
