Kirk Hinrich, Rip Hamilton, Taj Gibson, Derrick Rose Still Out as Chicago Bulls Take On San Antonio Spurs

As the Chicago Bulls prepare to take on the San Antonio Spurs, they’ll have to do it without a significant chunk of their team. Kirk Hinrich, Richard Hamilton, Taj Gibson and Derrick Rose (obviously) will miss tonight’s game with assorted injuries, while Nate Robinson will play despite a rib injury.

The good news is twofold. First, as we told you yesterday, Derrick Rose has been listed as day-to-day by Tom Thibodeau. That really could mean anything, knowing Thibs, but still. The other bit of good news is that Carlos Boozer will in fact be in the lineup. It was unclear whether he would be after this tweet from CSN Chicago’s Aggrey Sam:

However, about 25 minutes later, he followed it up with this:

The Bulls still will need some luck to beat the Spurs, of course. A mostly-healthy Bulls team lost at home to a Spurs team resting its three best players only one month ago, so it’s hard to look at a depleted Bulls team going on the road to a fully healthy Spurs team and think it’s going to end well for them.

Anyway, the starting five figures to be the same as it was on Sunday, with Robinson, Marco Belinelli, Luol Deng, Boozer and Joakim Noah taking the floor together. It certainly could be a lot worse. And the Bulls are very good on the road, so we’ll see.
