Taj Gibson out 1-2 weeks with Sprained MCL

As if the Chicago Bulls 30-point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday couldn’t have gotten any worse, KC Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports that Taj Gibson will be out 1-2 weeks with a sprained MCL.

It’s like the icing on the cake. Only the exact opposite.

As someone who has sprained his knee before, I can tell you that two weeks is probably a fairly optimistic sentiment. In my experience, two weeks will get you back to the point where you can function semi-normally, but it could be closer to four weeks before he’s back at full strength. But all knees are different, so we can certainly hope that he’s back sooner. And knowing how Tom Thibodeau and the Bulls organization feel about non-Derrick Rose injuries (#FredClearedHim), he may well be back sooner than is really good for him.
