According to the NBA PR Twitter account, Nate Robinson and David Lee have been named players of the week for their respective conferences. Despite almost single-handedly ruining the Chicago Bulls chance at taking a shorthanded win against the Brooklyn Nets, Robinson has had his share of dominant stretches.
He’s averaged 17.8 points and 6.8 assists while shooting 49% from the field and a sizzling hot 53% from beyond the arc over the past week. Chicago has gone 3-1 in that stretch, including a dominant win over the Atlanta Hawks. Over the past two games, he’s seen a spike in his minutes due to the absence of Kirk Hinrich. Through that stretch, he’s tallied an average of 16 points and 9.5 assists in 41 minutes.
The selection of Robinson, despite his increased output, is rather peculiar when you consider his competition. For example, Lebron James has been Lebron James. Despite the Heat’s .500 record over the past week, that should be enough justification for a selection over Nate Robinson
Regardless of whether he’s deserving of this recent recognition, a spike in Good Nate sightings this week has reminded fans why he should be starting in place of Captain Kirk. Congratulations Nate!
