Ever since that catastrophic incident happened on April 28, 2012; it has lead all Bulls fans on a wild goose chase. Everybody is demanding specific – straight to the point updates on Derrick Rose. Since Rose had his surgery last May, we have been supplied with an endless amount of small yet very obvious updates. We all know that Rose and his knee are doing just fine, obviously, however the information released should be a little deeper.
What specifically has Rose accomplished at team practices these past few weeks? How confident is he in his cutting and shooting? Psychologically how is he feeling? Is he hard on himself, or is he dealing with his progress as the days go by?
We have no idea. Really all we know is that Rose is sticking to the master plan, everything is going good, and that there is no set timetable for his return. Everyone is set on Rose returning to the court at some point after the All-Star break. Clearly the Bulls organization is not trying to rush Rose back and everyone is being really patient with him. For all Bulls/NBA fans out there patience is running thin. It would be amazing to hear from Rose himself, but he and his family are very quiet; in fact we have only heard these updates from Coach Tom Thibodeau.
I’m sure that Coach Thibs is just as tired of giving the same repeat updates, as we are of hearing about them. Thibodeau knows exactly where Rose is at, it’s just that he still wants to leave that impression on the media and his teammates that Derrick Rose has vanished and he mysteriously will not come back until he is mentally and physically ready.
John Paxson spoke with ESPN Chicago 100 Radio Friday morning discussing the Bulls’ hard salary cap restrictions and the upcoming trade deadline. Paxson mentioned that there is no big move to be made by the Bulls simply because they cannot afford another big salary, and besides that non-existent mythical point guard named Derrick Rose is due back sooner than later and that itself is the only big move the Bulls need to make this year.
