Coming off an embarrassing and disgusting one point loss against Milwaukee Monday night, the Bulls knew they had to take care of some business tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. The Bulls played incredible on all aspects and four of the Bulls finished with double digit scoring totals. This blowout tonight was exactly what the team needed, all signs indicate that this team is perfectly capable of coming together and winning with what they have. The bench looked great, and Luol Deng had 22 points of his own scoring 12 alone in the first quarter. Now here comes the fun part: awarding the top performers of the night
Tonight’s offensive game ball goes to former All-Star Luol Deng who put up 22 boards, six rebounds, handled one assist and grabbed a steal. Luol kept the Bulls alive in a slump of starters; aside from Jono ofcourse, Deng put the team on his back and lead them all night. A bit of panick occured when Deng seemed to roll either his ankle or foot, all uncertainties were pushed aside once he returned to the game gingerly.
Just a side note, Joakim Noah had yet another double-double tonight he scored 13 and grabbed 10 rebounds. If he’s not an All-star this year than nobody deserves to be.
The defensive game ball goes to Taj Gibson, he almost grabbed a double-double himself, as he had 8 points and 8 rebounds and was on point with his defending tonight forcing two turnovers. Slowly but surely Taj is helping the bench gel together. He is the only original bench mob member we have left. He’s helping in more ways than one.
Tonight’s overall game ball goes to the new bench who really stepped it up tonight while a few of the starters were in a funk and if it weren’t for them Chicago easily could have lost. Jimmy Butler had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and one steal. Butler is developing into a very strong-versatile player. Nate had 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists himself. Marco Belinelli found his groove tonight as well he had 11 boards, one steal, one assist, and one rebound. Radmanovic didn’t contribute a lot but still two blocks and two assists have to count for something. Nazr Mohammed had 2 points, 2 blocks, 5 rebounds and one steal he contributed to one heck of a defensive/overall performance by the new bench who have been slacking quite a bit lately.
The Bulls looked incredible tonight, this blowout will do wonders for their confidence and will hopefully open their eyes so that they see the big picture: they are more than capable of pulling off big wins, everybody just needs to step in and do their job! Consistency is key, once they get into their groove these guys will be just fine. Everybody needs to relax and get rid of the idea of tanking the season, this team will not let that happen, nor will Thibs.
