Bulls vs. Kings: Preview, Game Time, TV and Live Stream: Where to Watch and Listen

Chicago Bulls (0-0) vs. Sacramento Kings (0-0)

The season is finally upon us, and as tumultuous as the offseason was, it’s nice to have the boys back on the court — well what’s left of them. Kirk Hinrich is back in town and he’s looking to pick up where he left off back in 2010 when he was traded to the Washington Wizards. But it’s the new faces, like Marco Belinelli and Nazr Mohammed, that will truly shape this season.

The Bench Mob is dead. It’s gone and it’s likely never coming back in the form it was. Tom Thibodeau can work with the bodies he has but that’s all they are at this point, bodies. The fan base isn’t invested in the bench and frankly they’ve not done much in the preseason to warrant praise. But the season is 82 games long, and a lot can happen in that time. The original Bench Mob wasn’t highly touted coming into the 2011 season but look how that turned out.

This first game of the season will without a doubt cause some people to damn the season straight away if things don’t pick up quick. But don’t expect anything special this season as if you do, you’re setting yourself up for failure. This is not a championship caliber team, it’s a team in limbo. Derrick Rose is out, the offseason brought glorified scrubs to the bench and no one is expecting anything out of this team. That’s not to say they’ll crash and burn; there’s still considerable talent on the roster.

But this team won’t be winning that coveted title No. 7 this year, that’s in the future. That’s partially why this season almost seems like you can just skip it. It’s like in NBA2K13, you wish you could just sim the season and get on to the next when Rose will be back, Gibson will hopefully be starting and things will be bright once again.

However it’s lame and boring times like this that will make that elusive seventh title all that more satisfying when it comes.
