What the Bulls are realizing is that they can't compete for a title with the team they currently have. They need another star and then they can worry about a bench after they get that. Keeping Asik would have been a big mistake, since they would have zero cap space down the road and never be able to get another star. It's a step back today, for sure, but hopefully provides us something bigger and better down the road. The only real regret is that they didn't get anything for him, such as a first round pick.
