Chicago Bulls Pull Luol Deng From Trade Talks with Warriors; Squash Rumors

If you were in the office pool that had Luol Deng being traded to Golden State on draft night then you’re already wrong. Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo!Sports has reported this morning that the Chicago Bulls have assured Deng he will not be traded — at least to the Golden State Warriors.

K.C. Johnson over at the Chicago Tribune also stomped on this rumor today calling it “nothing but hot air” and “a rumor that need to die, but won’t.”

This comes as somewhat calming news to fans who were up in arms over Deng possibly being traded. But the clam may not last long; just because the rumors that Deng being traded to Golden State have proved fruitless it doesn’t mean the Bulls are done shopping him. The whole Deng trade rumors kicked off earlier this month with speculation surrounding Deng, the Toronto Raptors and their 8th overall pick.

There is also a matter of Sacramento possibly being interested but if the Warriors weren’t willing to take on Deng’s salary then neither will the Kings even if they are questionably run.

But this obviously has opened a flood gate of speculation despite the fact a rumor has been squashed. As we inch closer and closer to the draft expect more and more speculation to fly surrounding Deng.

The Bulls have made it known that they are entertaining the idea of moving into the drag tottery but that’s as far as the notion has been taken at this point. The rejection of any trade from the Warriors proves that the Bulls are not willing to move anything and everything to move up in the draft.

Don’t forget also that the Bulls paid very close attention to guys like Tu Holloway from Xavier, Jared Cunningham from Oregon State and Doron Lamb from Kentucky. Just because they have shown an interest in Austin Rivers and Dion Waiters doesn’t mean they are fir sure moving up it just means they’re joining the crowd of teams showing an interest.

Deng wasn’t all that confident about the trade rumors being false yesterday stating that if they weren’t true someone would have told him by now. Well apparently someone has and the Deng to the Warriors rumors can die as quickly as they arose.
