Derrick Rose is getting closer and closer to returning to the Bulls lineup. The biggest improvement occurred today when Rose ran through full contact practice without any hang ups and it is looking more and more likely that he returns tomorrow when the Bulls battle the Celtics.
But don’t bet money on it.
Speaking to the media after practice today, Rose stated that he needs conditioning before he gets back into games which means a return tomorrow may be rushing it.
However, the progress Rose has made is very encouraging, especially since Rose recently admitted that the groin injury he suffered was way worse then anyone initially let on.
“I was actually bleeding.” Rose said. “My groin was bleeding, but now it’s healed. It’s just scar tissue and it’s pretty hard trying to get that to move around, it’s going to take little time.”
Rose still may not return on Thursday but don’t count it out. The Bulls just dropped two straight games for the first time in 86 games two days ago and have the Heat hot on their tails trailing by just 2 1/2 games and a serious threat to tie the Bulls at the top of the East come Sunday, especially if the Bulls drop tomorrow’s game to the Celtics.
But Sunday is the most likely day that Rose returns. He needs to get back into the flow of things before he starts. Don’t rule out Rose playing on Thursday, he just won’t start. He could, however, see light minutes as a way of testing his groin in a live game situation.
Either way, Rose is coming back soon and next week should see a full return to the lineup.
