Bulls vs. Celtics — 7pm on TNT
Last time these two teams met was SUnday and Boston evened the score by beating a Rose-less Bulls squad.
Tonight won’t be any different it seems when it comes to Rose but that doesn’t mean the outcome will be the same.
Just as the last meeting was huge because it could single a changing of the guard in the East in terms of true titans, this meeting will mean a lot for the rest of the Bulls roster.
The other guys were blasted by the greater sports media as a lottery team sans Rose. That’s beyond a stupid take on Chicago’s strengths and obviously a knee jerk reaction to a marquee matinee on Sunday.
But everyone else not named Rose on the team now has an outside manufactured chip on their shoulder thanks the bombardment and questioning of their skills. The whole reason this team drew fire was because of the loss to Boston.
You think that’s going to be on their minds tonight?
Boston is banged up too, as they’ll be without Brandon Bass and likely will be without Kevin Garnett. This won’t completely tip the scales but if you’re strictly going off of NBA2K12 stats as some analysts seem to be, it definitely evens them.
This team, as I’ve defended them recently, are not a lottery team without Rose; this squad as is makes the playoffs with ease.
But how far they get is a little fuzzy without Rose.
So tonight is a chance for them to really prove they’re more then Rose, this rabbit hole goes deeper then simply him.
If they can prove they work and function without Rose, then the pressure will be taken off. We saw how jarring losing Rose in the playoffs for even the small amount of time he missed was for this team.
To get their sea legs now is crucial to the development of a champion and what better practice then a team they may have to use their teachings against in May.
