WASHINGTON — A day after the injury riddled Bulls lost a heartbreaker at the end to the Miami Heat, they may have to move forward with this nine game road trip with even fewer pieces. Shooting guards Rip Hamilton said after Sunday’s loss that he re-aggrivated his groin injury that kept him out for most of the season up to this point.
“I’ll see,” Hamilton said. “It’s tough. I’m frustrated with it because at times your mind tells you one thing and your body is telling you something else. So it’s frustrating.”
Hamilton’s status for tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards is up in the air, but given how valuable he is and the risk involved versus the caliber opponent, don’t be shocked if Rip is given the night off. Don’t be surprised if most of the banged up Bulls get a breather after an emotionally and physically draining game against the Heat.
The Bulls played Sunday’s game without Luol Deng or C.J. Watson who were both late scratches. It wouldn’t be surprising for them to also miss tonight’s game. Deng will no doubt be out as he is trying to recover from a torn ligament in his wrist. The logic of Deng sitting the Heat game but then playing the Wizards game doesn’t follow. Watson is more likely to play given the Bulls depth issues but they are facing an opponent in Washington that doesn’t really stand up to much competition.
The best bet would be for the Bulls to rest all three tonight, affording them an extra days rest as Chicago is off on Wednesday before traveling to Philadelphia for what should prove to be the second big test on this nine game road trip.
