Bulls Officially Announce 2012 TV Schedule; 48 Nat'l Games

CHICAGO — The Bulls aren’t letting the lockout stop them from hyping what is a highly anticipated 2011-12 season for them.

Earlier last month, the full regular season schedules were released which saw the Bulls nab a ton of very intriguing matchups. One thing many took away from the schedule were the amount of Nationally Televised games the Bulls had. The number then was 29 national TV games, and with the release of the full television schedule the number has ballooned to 48 games.

That means those living outside of the greater Chicagoland area will be able to watch over half of the Bulls games this upcoming year (whenever it starts). Many of the new national TV additions are games that will be televised on WGN-America, WGN’s nationally syndicated broadcasting channel. Comcast Sportsnet Chicago gets 42 Bulls games this year, 3 of which will be broadcast on Comcast Sportnet Plus. WGN Chicago suffers from the Bulls partnership with CSN as they get just 3 Bulls games. However when combined with the national feed, WGN gets a total of 23 games.

“Our arena seats just under 21,000 fans and, while watching the game on TV can’t replicate the atmosphere of actually being there and “Loving it Live”, these telecasts are the next best thing, and they play a very important role in satisfying the demand of millions of Bulls fans for access to their favorite basketball team.” said Bulls Executive Vice President of Business Operations Steve Schanwald. “We are especially pleased to note that 48 of our games will be televised nationally, so that all our fans outside the Chicago area will be able to follow us all season long as well.”

In addition to the Bulls 20 nationally televised games on WGN America, the Bulls will also appear on TNT 9 times, ESPN 9 times, NBA-TV 6 times and ABC 5 times.

Games that will be featured on WGN-America include:

  • The home opener November 5th against the Atlanta Hawks
  • Dec. 17th on the road against the San Antonio Spurs
  • Jan. 14th at home against Golden State
  • Valentines Day at home against Toronto
  • Every Saturday game in the month of May
