MILWAUKEE — The Bulls rolled into Milwaukee on Saturday and the Bucks came close to stopping that sweet streak the Bulls are riding.
The talent and momentum was too much.
Not only did the Bulls pull out another come from behind win, but they did it in sexy style. Derrick Rose proved again that if the game is on the line, give him the ball and he’ll find a way to get in the basket whether that be by his hand or his assist. In the closing minutes of the game Rose put an exclamation point on the Bulls comeback hitting an insane fade away where he literally faded away mid air as you couldn’t take your eyes off his beautiful shot.
“It was an up-tempo-type game,” Rose said. “I was trying to make the right pass, put a lot of pressure on them and it was rolling for us.”
In true Derrick Rose fashion, much like a fine wine he is getting better as the season ages towards its conclusion. I’ve said it before and I will continue to say it until it happens: If Derrick Rose isn’t the MVP then I don’t know what an MVP is. His Friday and Saturday night performances should be proof enough of what Derrick Rose can do. Tom Thibodeau agrees that tonight’s performance by Rose is nothing new.
“He’s done it all year and he’s got to continue to do it,” Thibodeau said. “The thing I really respect about him is he’s never satisfied. He’ll keep driving. The important thing for him is to win. He’s not concerned about what he’s doing individually. It’s how the team is doing.”
On Friday, he exploded and so did his team. On Saturday the Bulls found themselves behind and Rose showed what he does best, lead a game-winning comeback and energize his team in the process. And when Rose energizes the Bulls, it’s not just for the remainder of that game, it lasts and turns into a streak.
Rose also energizes another intergrual part of the Bulls success; the crowd.
Even if the Bulls are on the road, deafening “M-V-P” chants can be heard in stadiums across the country. When Rose slams in a dunk or assists a violent play by Joakim Noah or any other Bull, it sends a pulse through the Bulls fans in attendance that is unmatchable in any other fan base in the NBA.
Nota-Bulls: The win in Milwaukee gives the Bulls an extra half game on the resting Celtics making their lead in the East a 2 1/2 game gap. The Bulls magic number to clinch the number one seed in the East is 8.5 games……Bulls fans filled out so much of the attendance at the game in Milwaukee that whenever a fan was shown in Packer gear, they were loudly booed…..Rose pasted 30 points and 15-plus rebounds, the last Bull to do that was Michael Jordan back during the ’88-’89 season when Jordan put up 33 and 17. The comparison is no coincidence.
