The Iowa Energy came out strong against the Erie BayHawks and kept up that intensity throughout the game. This resulted in a 122-113 victory for Iowa. The loss snapped Erie’s league best 11 straight home victories. It’s always good when three players can provide double-doubles and Othyus Jeffers, Courtney Sims, and Curtis Stinson, of the Energy, did just that.
The Energy had plenty of energy on Sunday, scoring on fast break after fast break. They even got the lead up to 15 in the first quarter. Somehow the Energy seemed dead in the second quarter and let the BayHawks come within five at the half.
Courtney Sims owned the third quarter though; 11 points and 11 rebounds, and the Energy never looked back. Their lead grew to a game high 16 points. Every time the BayHawks would come within 10 points, the Energy would shut them down.
Othyus Jeffers: 22 points, 12 rebounds
Curtis Stinson: 25 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds
Courtney Sims: 18 points, 18 rebounds
Michael Haynes: 23 points, 5 rebounds
Ivan Johnson: 30 points, 9 rebounds
Tasmin Mitchell: 19 points, 6 rebounds
