Jeff Van Gundy is all hopped up on Miami Heat Kool-Aid. He has already predicted them to break 2 of the NBA’s greatest records.
“They will break the single-season win record [of 72],” Jeff Van Gundy said. “And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers’ 33-game [winning] streak [in 1971-72], as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series. They will never lose two games in a row this year.
I wonder if he’s just trying to turn up the heat (pun intended) so it helps his brother Stan and the Magic. The 33-game streak will be safe forever. This is an entirely different era and an entirely different athlete. As for the 72 wins, it’s definitely possible, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
