Breathe through your nose, Chicago. Derrick Rose got injured Wednesday night against the Magic, but it looks as if it isn’t too serious.
Early in the first quarter, Rose held a dribble behind the three-point arc. He received a pick from Taj Gibson and blew by the Magic defenders and got to the basket for a lay-in. Waiting for him there was Dwight Howard. Howard went for the block and Rose was fouled. Rose hit the floor hard and lay there for a spell. He got up and made the free throw but then had to leave the game.
After initial x-rays were negative, the injury is thought to be a bruised hip and not a fracture. But Rose will still have a MRI taken to be certain.
The Bulls got crushed 107-87 without their All-Star guard. Rose received his jersey and was sworn in for the U.S. men’s basketball team just before the game. Here are the lowlights:
