L 85-98 It’s not that Rose had a bad game, its just that he got out-dueled by his counterpart, fellow class of 2008 point guard Russell Westbrook. The Thunder put a 27-6 run on the Bulls in the 3rd and that was pretty much the end of it. It’s also always fun to watch Thabo put Rose on lockdown defensively.
L 108-113 Flip Murray, Stephen Jackson, and Gerald Wallace put a beating down on us. Nobody could stop them. Although Rose had a good night and there were decent contributions from Deng with 18 and Salmons with 19 it was not enough to overcome a 13 point 2nd quarter deficit. At least we scored over 100 points I guess.
L 93-96 Things got a bit chippy in this one as both teams amassed 5 technical fouls. Unfortunately the no one got points for Ts and the ugliness of two bad teams battling it out for the 8 seed in the East was all too apparent. Rose is clearly healed from those injury problems, but Vinny inexplicably was unable to get the ball in his hands with the game on the line late in the game.
W 110-96 The Bulls finally stole a win after 3 humiliating losses to relatively bad teams. It took a 4th bad team for them to finally come away with a W. Noah had a very productive night at the offensive end with 20 points, while Kirk also chipped in with 20 points and 7 assists on only 15 shots.
Player of the Week — Kirk Hinrich
I know Rose had a pretty good week, but Captain Kirk stepped into the starting lineup and played with intensity. He finally found his shooting stroke a bit and averaged 14.8 points, 3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and 2 steals a game. This is the Hinrich we needed to see more of early in the season.
Not Player of the Week — Tyrus Thomas
The guy can change a game but boy is he frustrating a lot of the time. When you’re shooting 32% from the field as a big man, its time to take stock of your shot selection and Tyrus has hit that point. Stop shooting all those jumpers!
Bulls Weekly Grade — F
As you can tell from the tone of this roundup the Bulls had a terrible week. They played 4 weak opponents and were only able to come away with 1 measly win. Terrible.
