There can be no doubt. Kevin Garnett is a lock for the Basketball Hall of Fame. But he’s also a lock for another hall– the one for the douchiest players to ever play NBA basketball. What a great way to start the season. A win at home over a tough opponent with some nice contributions from both the starters and the bench. But let’s not all silly. The Spurs were on the 2nd game of a back to back, and they are also notoriously slow starters. And the Bulls were at home. So enjoy it — just don’t exaggerate it. Bulls fans couldn’t get much worse news than what the Trib reported today about Derrick Rose: “It’s going to be tough, I’ll tell you that,” Rose said. “I’m like an old man. I gotta wait 20, 30 minutes into practice to get loosened up. And it gets stiff when I stop playing.” Pressed on how many minutes he thought would be realistic, Rose backtracked a bit into vagueness. “At least 20,” he said. “I just want to play more. Good ol’ Vinny Del Negro. What happens when you talk too much (I have first hand knowledge) is that the thoughts come out before you can check them at the door. Vinny Del Negro did this regarding Derrick Rose and his injury status. Late Monday, Del Negro first said it’s in the realm of possibility Rose could miss the Oct. 29 season opener against the Spurs, reversing his answer to the same question from three days earlier. Then Del Negro backtracked a bit and Rose added there’s “no way” he would miss the game. Whatever the case, it’s not good. [...]

I don’t care if it’s preseason. It’s always good to see a young player that needs to make strides come out and dominate an opposing team. Joakim Noah did that Tuesday night against the Bucks. The line: The only thing disappointing is the free throw shooting, but we know from last year that he is already improved on that. Only 1 turnover with 3 dimes, 20 points, 16 boards–6 on the offensive glass?! It won’t happen every night but it is sweet to see.
