I first caught wind of it from Marc Stein on ESPN. Stein wrote: “Another major multi-team trade might be looming in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls having discussed a deal that would be headlined by Carlos Boozer and Kirk Hinrich, according to NBA front-office sources.”
John Hollinger then tweeted: “Trading Hinrich and Thomas for Boozer would put Bulls roughly $20M under the cap next summer with Rose-Deng-Salmons-Noah and the two 1sts.”
Not long after that a Yahoo! Sports NBA tweet said that “Bulls haven’t had a “single conversation” about a 3-way deal Blazers and “have nothing going” with Utah about Boozer, Bulls source tells Y!.”
But Hollinger’s tweet confirms that this trade would keep the Bulls healthy for the cap next season. If I’m the Bulls I pull the trigger on this one. Hinrich is a really solid player, but now overpriced in a reserve role. Thomas might be forever intriguing, but Boozer is a stud and wants out of Utah badly.
