The last time the Bulls had the #16 pick in the draft they selected Rodney Carney. He was promptly dealt to obtain Thabo Sefolosha. Sefolosha was dealt mid-season for the #26 pick in this year’s draft. Before that the Bulls last selection at #16 was Ron Artest in 1999. Here are other #16 picks.
| Year | Team | Player | College |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2008 | 76ers | Marreese Speights | University of Florida |
| 2007 | Wizards | Nick Young | USC |
| 2006 | Bulls | Rodney Carney | University of Memphis |
| 2005 | Raptors | Joey Graham | Oklahoma State |
| 2004 | Jazz | Kirk Snyder | University of Nevada |
| 2003 | Celtics | Troy Bell | Boston College |
| 2002 | 76ers | Jiri Welsch | |
| 2001 | Hornets | Kirk Haston | University of Indiana |
| 2000 | Kings | Hedo Turkoglu | |
| 1999 | Bulls | Ron Artest | St. John’s |
Not too many hits there. Speights played well off the bench for the Sixers last year. Artest and Turkoglu (known as Turkish Pippen by this and other bloggers) have had good careers. Other than those players none are standouts.
